There will be an almost two-week shutdown of the Sialkot airport, which will impact both local and international flights. The airport manager declared that there will be no flights from or to Sialkot from May 6 to May 18.
This shutdown follows the cancellation of multiple flights from Karachi's Jinnah International Airport during the holy month of Ramadan due to low passenger numbers. There were seventeen affected flights in all, which caused traveler annoyance.
PIA flight PK-368, which was supposed to depart at 4 PM from Karachi to Islamabad, was one of the canceled planes. The flight from Karachi to Dubai on a private carrier was also canceled.
These disruptions highlight the challenges faced by airlines and airports during Ramadan, as passenger traffic tends to decrease during this time. However, authorities are working to minimize inconvenience to travelers and ensure smooth operations once flights resume at Sialkot airport after the closure period.
Given that passenger volume often declines during Ramadan, these disruptions serve to emphasize the difficulties that airlines and airports experience throughout this holy month. Nonetheless, whenever flights at the Sialkot airport recommence following the suspension period, authorities are striving to minimize disruption to travelers and guarantee seamless operations.
