The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has revealed plans to build Pakistan's largest Information Technology Park (IT Park) in Islamabad in cooperation with public-private partnerships. This bold move aligns with the goals of recently elected Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who wants to boost IT exports from Pakistan by taking tangible steps.
The project has been approved by the CDA Board and will be built on a large 3.3-acre plot in Sector G-10. The proposed IT Park is expected to occupy an area of about 100,000 square feet and house between 5,000 and 6,000 independent contractors at a time.
The Information Technology Park, which is which is intended to act as a hub for innovation, will have cutting-edge amenities like a research center, library, software houses, conference rooms, and workspaces specifically designated for independent contractors and startups. Furthermore, an area devoted to exhibiting IT products will be present, encouraging industry players to collaborate and network.
The building of the IT Park will be financed in large part by private IT companies, who will also be renting office space there. It is important to remember, nevertheless, that the CDA will eventually become the Park's owner.
